Environmental Stewardship

WHAT IS IT?

Environmental stewardship is the proactive behavior on how we as a team could help the environment become more "clean" by saving our materials, recycling more, and limiting the use of natural resources.

What could happen if there was no environmental stewardship?

Without environmental stewardship, there would be negative effects on ecosystems, human health, economies, and overall quality of life. Sustainable practices and proactive environmental management are essential for a healthy planet. Without any solutions on how to get rid of carbon emitions and a more reliable way to get rid of waste, landfills would be stacked to the roof which could have many negative effects on the enviornment

Landfills Being Used

Landfills are sources of methane, a potent greenhouse gas, and can lead to groundwater contamination. Waste decomposition contributes to air pollution and affects biodiversity.

Effects to biodivercity
Habitat Loss Icon

Habitat Loss

Landfills contribute to the destruction of natural habitats, reducing biodiversity by up to 30%.

Soil and Water Pollution

Pollution from landfills affects nearby ecosystems, causing a 40% impact on soil and water quality.

Native Species Decline

Landfill sites reduce native species diversity, contributing to a 25% decline in native populations.

Air Pollution

Landfills release harmful gases, reducing air quality and contributing to biodiversity loss by 15%.

Waste Emissions

Decomposing waste in landfills releases methane, contributing to a 35% increase in harmful emissions.

Invasive Species

Landfills attract invasive species, leading to a 20% increase in non-native species disrupting ecosystems.

Metals and certain computer parts take about 50-100 years to biodegrade. Discarded computers impact water quality, as rainwater seeping through landfills picks up hazardous materials, leading to contamination of nearby water sources. Biodiversity Image
